Free Workshop- Saturday, 30 April, 9am–5pm, Athens-Clarke County Library, 2025 Baxter Street Athens, GA Multi-Purpose Room-
This FREE all day workshop in support of the American Library Association’s Preservation Week 2016 can help you be prepared for events beyond your control like a bad storm, flooding as happened in October 2015 in Columbia, SC, or a broken pipe. You will learn to evaluate your personal collections including photos, scrapbooks, letters, and how to best store these important items to protect them for the long haul. You will also learn how to create a disaster preparedness plan and the last part of the day will be spent writing one. Tina Seetoo and Christine Wiseman, are preservation and conservation specialists with years of experience and will teach us how to take care of our “stuff” and will help us in writing our own plan to protect it. This time you will leave a workshop with the product you need ready to implement once you get home. Visit the Georgia Genealogical Society Website for more information and a form for registration. Please note that because this is a free seminar, we currently don’t have an option of registration online. If you have questions contact Laura Carter, GGS Education Director.
